I think opening with Murali Vijay and Dinesh Karthik as a weak link in this T20 edition?

For those dummies who always thought I was harsh on Tendulkar just because he was a North Indian, READ THIS…

The openers should consist of at least 1 top notch quality batsman (say a Showag or a Gambhir or a 10 dull car or even a Dravid (a better player than Kallis in ODI and T20)). Otherwise, this deficiency is bound to show up sooner or later.

I do not have much faith in Murali Vijay and maybe even Dinesh Karthik. Both are from Chennai….and that’s where I am from.

Murali Vijay has always been fallible against quality pace attack, and it again showed up yesterday. He better come up with a masterful knock either against Aus or S.A on a not-so-flat wicket or else he might have to be clubbed alongside Yusuf Pathan as pathetic players against quality fast bowling.

Meanwhile, Dinesh Karthik doesn’t have the same kind of weakness that Murali Vijay has against quality attacks. However, Karthik is totally undependable. I do not know why the selectors keep going back to him time and again. In my opinion, Rohit Sharma should have played as an opener. Karthik should be only considered as a replacement wicketkeeper - not as a replacement batsman.

Yesterday’s failure of M Vijay and Karthik was overcome by the fluent knock of Yuvraj and a milestone of an innings from Raina.

Hopefully Gambhir will be careful enough not have his diorhea during a crucial match. India can afford to have the solidity of a Gambhir and a trial-by-fire Murali Vijay as openers. But a M Vijay and a Karthik opening and failing yet again might even result in India getting shot out for a ultra cheap total. How often is a century scored in an international T20 ? Only 3 so far, and that’s why I say Raina’s success completely masqueraded yesterday’s failure with the opening partnership.

(a) Would you agree that this opening combination might be worrisome for India in this T20

(b) Should Karthik be utilized only as a replacement wicketkeeper or as a replacement batsman/replacement wicketkeeper ?
Read "even a Dravid (a better player than Kallis" as

"even a Dravid, a better BATSMAN than Kallis" in ODI and T20. Kallis might be the better player because he gifts those 8-10 runs/over spells too. Again, if Dravid keeps wickets, who knows, Dravid might still be the better PLAYER too.
kashyap,

Robin Uthappa, Doug Bollinger, et al missed out because ICC forced the cricketing nations to select the playing XV before the IPL was even at halfway stage. So for once, we can say it wasn’t politics that dictated the selection.

T J, I highlighted 10dullcar and Dravid just to highlight a "top notch quality batsman"

Why do Statin Tendulkar fans call him #1 all time - because of his stats, when his own stats prove otherwise.?

Look at Suchin’s double centuries.

A pathetic 201 vs Zimbabwe at Nagpur. This Match ended in a tame Draw.

Another pathetic 217 vs New Zealand on a featherbed at Ahmedabad. Even this Match was a tame Draw.

Yet another pathetic 241 vs Australia (minus McGrath + Warne) + a flat Sydney Pitch. Inevitably, Match Drawn.

A mediocre 248* vs Bungladushi. A knock that India could have easily lived without and still won by an innings.

Let’s look at some of Lara’s (meaningful) double (Plus) centuries.

400* - Although the pitch was a dead one, some credit should be assigned to Lara because of his age at that time and the difficulty in playing such a huge knock.

226 - A splendid knock against an Australian attack comprising of McGrath and Warne. West Indies ended up as the losing side.

221 - Another great knock against a Sri Lanka side when Murali was at his very best. West Indies ended up as the losing side. Notable mention: Lara scored another 130 runs in Windies 2nd innings, still they lost the match.

213 - A brilliant knock at Kingston that knocked the stuffing out of the Aussies comprising of McGrath and Warne. Windies win handsomely.

202 - A fantabulous 202 vs South Africa at the Wanderer’s. South Africa still won the match.

Lara has at least 5 great 200+ knocks, while Statin Tendulkar has Nuthin’.

Nuchin is notorious for padding up his statistics against mediocre set of bowlers. Against the great one’s like Waqar, Wasim Akram, Alan Donald, Shaun Pollock, Glen McGrath, Shame Warne and Muttiah Muralitharan, Nuchin averaged just 43 runs.

When Munchin did not play against either of these 7 great bowlers, Nuthin’ averaged an amazing 63 runs. Pooh ! What a great batsman u r, Suckin’.

STATISTICS CLEARLY SHOW THAT LARA WAS A SUPERIOR BATSMAN THAN TENDULKAR WHEN FACING THIS LIST OF SEVEN GREAT BOWLERS:

(1) Alan Donald (South Africa)
(2) Shaun Pollock (South Africa)
(3) Wasim Akram (Pakistan)
(4) Waqar Younis (Pakistan)
(5) McGrath (Australia)
(5) Shane Warne (Australia)
(7) Muttiah Muralitharan (Sri Lanka)

TESTS ONLY:
===========

Brian Lara played 108 innings against these 7 great bowlers, scored 5253 runs with 14 centuries at an average of 50.02 runs

Brian Lara played 124 TEST innings NOT against these 7 great bowlers, scored 6740 runs with 20 centuries at an average of 55.70 runs.

Sachin Tendulkar played 95 TEST innings against these 7 bowlers, scored 3903 runs with 14 centuries at an average of 43.36 runs per innings

Sachin Tendulkar played 176 TEST innings NOT against these 7 bowlers, scored 9544 runs with 33 centuries at an average of 62.78 runs per innings.

TESTS+ODI:
==========

Brian Lara played 230 TEST+ODI innings against these 7 bowlers, scored 9913 runs with 26 centuries at an average of 46.32 runs per innings.

Brian Lara played 285 TEST+ODI innings NOT against these 7 bowlers, scored 12347 runs with 27 centuries at an average of 46.94 runs per innings.

Sachin Tendulkar played 246 TEST+ODI innings against these 7 bowlers, scored 9344 runs with 28 centuries at an average of 40.10 runs per innings.

Sachin Tendulkar played 457 TEST+ODI innings NOT against these 7 bowlers, scored 21711 runs with 65 centuries at an average of 54.27 runs per innings. (also includes 1 T20 innings, 10 runs)

ANALYSIS:
=========

In Tests, while playing against the weaker bowlers (i.e., Not the 7 great bowlers), Sachin scored heavily at a Test average of 62.78. But the same Sachin was able to score an average of only 43.36 against the 7 great bowlers.

In Tests, while playing against the weaker bowlers (i.e., Not the 7 great bowlers), Lara scored more runs (average = 55.70 runs) but not like Tendulkar. But the same Lara was still able to maintain an average of 50.02 against the 7 great bowlers.

In Tests+ODIs, while playing against the weaker bowlers (i.e., Not the 7 great bowlers), Lara scored at a Test+ODI average of 46.94. Lara was still able to score at almost the same average 46.32 against the 7 great bowlers also.

In Tests+ODIs, while playing against the weaker bowlers (i.e., Not the 7 great bowlers), Tendulkar scored at a Test+ODI average of 54.27. But the same Tendulkar was struggling to score runs against the 7 great bowlers and averaged only 40.10.

CONCLUSION:
============

STATISTICS CLEARLY SHOW THAT LARA WAS A SUPERIOR BATSMAN THAN TENDULKAR. TENDULKAR SELECTED WEAKER BOWLERS TO SCORE RUNS HEAVILY WHILE LARA SCORED RUNS EQUALLY AGAINST ALL BOWLERS.

Even stats clearly show, that it was Lara who was the greatest of this era and not Tendulkar.
Tendulkar simply padded up his numbers so as to achieve phony greatness.

Now you know where Tendulkar’s runs came from…..against a mediocre set of bowlers.

Then why all this hype for Tendulkar ? No 1 cricketer all time ? No ways….he’s at best a good player. As simple as that. :):) Not even the best amongst the current legends of
Abraham. Test Cricket is the real pinnacle. And if you didn’t know that, being a Top contributor and all, then all I got to say to you is that you padded up your #s too.

oh hoh! Suckin’ Tendulkar SUCKS big time when it really matters. oh hoh!
Awesome Harbhajji. I always looked at you as some kind of a Troll. You got it right on the money. What’s your IQ bud ?

Abraham, when you say "you cant change the opinion of 60-80 mn people", going by Harbhajji, that’s because they are the ultimate MORONS.
Indian Pride,

"Because he had an aura, a magic, a craziness around him, which made fans go gaga……" and you think LARA doesn’t ?!?
Gaydone,

Vaas did not figure because his average is no where near 25 - the hallmark of a great bowler.

Bond, Walsh and Ambrose average sub 25, but they were excluded because the number of matches were not all that many.

How many of you are looking forward to the Sachin Tendulkar v/s Dougie Bollinger contest in the final?

Sachin Tendulkar is in great form for MI with his batting at the moment and so is Doug Bollinger for CSK.His bowling throughout the season was just amazing especially in the semis against DC.

If Sachin is fit for finals,Who do you think would win this contest when they face each other in the finals?.Would Sachin take him on for runs or will Doug Bollinger succeed in keeping Sachin quiet?

Sachin Tendulkar’s historic innings of 200-watch the IMT Mess explode

Sachin Tendulkar’s historic 200 vs South Africa. This is our college mess (IMT Ghaziabad) where the TV is. Its for the first time when Indians would boo a MS Dhoni six, shout “Haye Haye Dhoni” as Sachin wasn’t getting strike, then cheer when Sachin got the strike and simply explode when the legend went to 200. Awesome…hail the God!!!

I guess all the cricket fans know what a great game that was! Hats off to the legend. First man ever to score a double century in one day internationals! India vs South Africa ODI 2 Gwalior, India February 24, 2010 After playing the greatest innings of all time the little master speaks with Ravi Shastri during the presentation ceremony. The first few minutes of this video has some high lights of the South African Innings and the interview starts at about 2:35.

"Sachin Is better than bradman" : Bhajji . What do you think about this Comment from Great Off Spinner?

Jalandhar, Feb 27 (PTI) Eulogising milestone man Sachin Tendulkar for his historic ODI double hundred, India’s star off-spinner Harbhajan Singh reckons his illustrious teammate is better than Australian great Sir Don Bradman.

Harbhajan could not witness the record-breaking double century as he skipped the first two matches of the series due to his sister’s wedding.

"I am short of words to praise Sachin. Some players compared him with Don Bradman. Although I have not seen Bradman playing but I am confident, he (Sachin) is better than him for which his records speak," Harbhajan told PTI today.

The off-spinner said Tendulkar’s hunger for runs and amazing focus makes him an altogether different cricketer.

"Even after scoring 150 in the ODI, Sachin never looks tired and keeps his focus on the game. I have learnt a lot from him, be it on ground or in dressing room.
