Gautam Gambhir- a more consistent performer compared to Cook, who I believe is yet to really impress.
Dhoni- McCullum seems to be a member of the inconsistency-syndrome as well. He can hit it big, but so can Dhoni, and the latter can serve as captain as well. In glovework, both stand parallel.
Sangakkara- this was a close one. Though Boucher’s keeping may get an extra mark, Sangakkara surpasses that with his batting; and a keeper who’s a good bat as well is invaluable. And he bats well in all formats.
Shakib al Hassan- this allrounder is impressive. It isn’t exactly his fault that he plays for Bangladesh. If he’d play against quality opposition more regularly, he’d even be better. And to shine when the rest of the team flops is even more splendid. Styris is pretty useful as well though.
AB de Villiers- he’s played more substantial innings in all formats against almost every opposition away and at home. In contrast, Taylor hasn’t played too many big innings. de Villiers also has more experience and is rated a better fielder.

Gambhir, no question. Sheer weight of runs over Alistair Cook. Gambhir scores hundreds regularly. Cook does not. Simple
Dhoni - By far the most consistent of the two players. McCullum can play brilliant innings ( the recent T20 knock against Oz a case in point, but they are few and far between.
Sangakarra. I think Boucher has been a fantastic player for SA over a long period of time. I just sense his performances beginning to wane over the last few years.
Shakib. Up until the last few weeks Shakib has been one of the best perforemd all-rounders in world cricket in all forms. Styris is not in the same class.
Probably AB deVilliers. Definitely in tests at least. Both these guys are absolutley brilliant fieldsmen

Gambhir: He is in a better form
Dhoni: McCullum is one of the best hitters of the ball around atm, but Dhoni is a more consistent batsman of the two.
Sangakkara: As a batsman, Sangakkara is way better than Bouchykins
Scott Styris: Styris is a better batsman.
De Villiers: He’s been in a great touch with the bat these days and has become quite a consistent performer for the team too.

Gambhir (cook always throws away his wicket at the wrong time)
McCullum (better keeper)
Sangakkara (who wouldn’t)
Styris (more economical in bowling and more variation, more destructive batsman)
Taylor (Mr Consistent)
